Shoes

... the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about...

It's no secret that I'm more keen on buying shoes than any other items. Clothes- I recycle through about 3 shirts, 2 jeans, 3 jackets, 1 scarf. Bags- I try not to even bring them around anymore, but I've been carrying only one brown backpack for the past month or so. Shoes? I'm not even going to bother counting. There are different shoes for different occasions. Badminton, running, walking, casual walking, different lengths of boots (thigh high, mid length, ankle), work shoes, comfortable work shoes, formal events, hiking, rainy season, summer season, beach, washing car (that's really just slippers)... you name the occasion, there's probably a pair of shoes especially for it.

When it comes to throwing out old and worn shoes, I get protective over them. Each pair of shoes have special meanings, having been with me for a particular period of time and taken me to particular places. This one... died on me recently, and it definitely carries some heavy memories. Bittersweet memories that are perhaps better laid to rest and gone with the wind. Despite having bought a replacement pair long ago, it took me a long time to get rid of these ones. I used them past their expiry date, till they breathed their last breath, but with this final photo and entry, I can finally... Let It Go.

Carrying on, today's breakfast before badminton was at Green House Cafe. Just 5 minutes from the Leisure Centre where we play badminton, this cafe was entirely in an outdoor front yard of a house (the door had a sign for dentistry). While it could get a little chilly, it was a nice and sunny day today, so it wasn't too bad.

Those lavenders are fake.

Caution: the capp comes with a very generous trap of cocoa sugar, which, if sprung, can cause choking and excess spluttering. For seasoned coffee drinkers, this is no problem at all and can be deactivated simply by stirring. B found it particularly amusing that I was carefully navigating around the powder and shaking off any excess before carefully eating the foam, but too many times have I fallen for the trap that it's better safe than sorry.

Their menu for breakfast is pretty standard save for their Protein breakfast, which is pretty much for anyone into clean eating, with chicken breast, egg whites and spinach... and their Italian Big Breakfast, with "highly recommended by Chef!" written alongside. Two eggs, mince with Neapolitan sauce and special Italian bread. I was tossing between their eggs benedict and their big breakfast and decided to just go with the big breakfast. It was absolutely massive with 3 Italian sausages, 2 poached eggs, a huge mountain of spinach, grilled tomatos and under those toasts is another mountain of mushrooms.

It was a good breakfast, but I think we need to start spicing things up a bit more. No more eggs benedict and big breakfasts- time to try new things on the breakfast menus!

Thigh high? Really? Don't think I've ever seen you wear those o.o

You know, wearing down a pair of shoes is kind of like having books so old that their pages turn yellow (and crusty) - a lot of love and memories!

Always a bit hard to let them go; I've definitely got a few like that as well (e.g. my first bball shoes).

Soo.. gonna try porridge? :P
